Vancouver - June aurora borealis 2015

It is so hard for me to stay in when I know the lights are out. When you can't get away from the light pollution you just have to roll with it and I couldn't resist a quick dash around Stanley Park last night. Happy hunting this week everyone. It looks like the Aurora will be around for the next few nights.

North Shore News feature

I love it when the local community reaches out. This week I was interviewed by the The North Shore News who kindly featured me in their paper.

Cleveland Dam in North Vancouver, Canada.

It's been over a year since I last shot the Northern Lights in the Vancouver area. The last huge storm was in September 2014 and I was in Egypt. A few days ago there was a huge solar storm and the last few days have seen the Aurora in the Northern Skies. I was lucky to catch the this short time lapse at Cleveland Dam in North Vancouver, Canada. I hope you like it!

The Star-Spangled Banner

TheStar-SpangledBanner

Are the kids today like before, like my generation or yours? While some kids in the world light fireworks others fire guns. As the daylight fades this girls creates her own artificial danger in honor of the "rockets' red glare."

National Geographic

Wow 2015 is being kind to me. My image was selected along with 19 others for National Geographic's latest assignment - The Walk. I can't tell you how grateful this makes me! http://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/stories/the-walk/

Fortress Mountain

What a year 2014 has been. I can only say thanks and hope that 2015 is as memorable. There have been many highlights from Egypt, South Korea, UK, USA and Indonesia but an unexpected assignment had me fly back to Alberta for location scouting in late December. It was nothing short of breathtaking and cold, very, very cold. This picture is taken at the top of Fortress Mountain located an hour away from Calgary. Standing on the edge of the Rockies makes you feel small and forces you to take a moment of contemplation. I wish you all many moments of contemplation in the coming year.

Murica - 4th of July

Yesterday was my first 4th of July and I had a wonderful time in the small family town of Fillmore, California. For one week of the year fireworks are legal here and there is no shortage of fireworks stands to buy them from. Garages are transformed into elaborate buffets selections and the whole town is out to party. The real adventure comes when the sun goes down and every house along the street takes out their purchased fireworks and sets them off!
